The second hair pice in my newest collection, Date with Destiny is my new favorite! How can I describe it except to say that when I look at this piece, it reminds me that anything is possible-just add style! I have handsewn a beautiful bold color yet vintage-look floral fabric into a "blossom". In the center is a piece if silver retro style found costume jewelry to which I have added a pibk paper flower and a pearl. Fanning out behind that are baby spotted pink feathers. Beyond them are hot pink leaves with wire spines so you can bend them to look real! They are each kissed with a small pearl as well. This clip will stay securely in hair of any length.

The Neo-vintage Collection!

This is the first of my newest collection. "Date with Desire" evokes a steamy streetcar-era image, while it's colors are totally modern. I have handsewn a truly cool vibrant in color and pattern-fabric to make a "blossom". A "natural" woven scroll-writing flower is placed in the center with an amber colored rhinestone. Beyond that grows a stem of true fancy...a golden glittered vine with amber "flowers" climbs atop purple feathers which have brown hand-glittered spines. Amber rhinestones added on feathers complete the piece. This hair clip will stay securely in hair of any length.

Hello Everyone! Just a brief message to my friends and family to catch you up on things going on with my Thatched Roof Designs shop...

First of all, I want to say thank you to all of my new FB "fans" and thank you to Isabel! :) I really appreciate everyone's support!

And second, I'm excited, because I am in talks with a new studio opening in my area. They have contacted me about placing some of my things to sell in their studio. Pretty Cool.

Whimsical Shadowboxes, Feather Hairpieces and Much More!

Hello, and welcome to my Thatched Roof Designs blog!!

I am passionate about my art, and if an item is not something that myself I would wear, or proudly display in my own home, I wouldn't sell it to anyone else. I am a perfectionist! My biggest passion is photography - followed closely by my shadowboxes, hairpieces, paper crafts, painting, culinary art and make-up.

If you're not sure of what exactly a shadowbox is, I would describe it as a cross between a picture frame and a window. My shadowboxes measure 9" x 20" and are approximately 1/2" deep and have built-in hangers on the back. Currently the frames are available in black only, but if you need another color, please let me know. They come complete with a glass overlay. I am also happy to fulfill custom requests if you need a certain theme or color palette. Shadowboxes make great gifts for a new nursery, wedding, or a new home because I can customize them to just about any theme you can think of!

Hairpieces are all my own design. They are catagorized by color, style and/or collection. Feathers on hairpieces may be requested in custom colors as well. (Please note that feathers may not be colorfast.)

I ship all orders within 48 hours, but please give me extra time(up to one week) for custom made orders. For orders outside the U.S. and Canada, please convo me through etsy.com.
